Thread: Need a little help, Completely new to russian

Hi!

I just started learning russian 2 days ago, so far I just know pronounciation and the word "CBet". I worked on Conjugation verbs 1 today.

First of all, I don't know how to get the Cryllic alphabet onto my computer, and secondly, I have a hard to remembering the pronounciation of all the words and I forget them. I was wondering if there's a way to fix that.

Don't try to memorize the pronunciation of words. Learn the alphabet. To get the cyrillic keybaord on your computer, use either http://bama.ua.edu/~mlc/russian/russification.html or http://zsigri.tripod.com/fontboard/ like I use.

I'd suggest getting a book if you don't already have one. Internet resources are great, but they can only take you so far. Good luck!

Dative really implies motion towards a person...

он пошёл к врачу.

Towards a building or a hypothetical place (in this case..to the internet forum) its better to have the accusative with в or на.

Crap, I just realized that I wrote down that you don't use -L for singular masculine subjects in my notes. Is that just for the 3 infinitive endings?

-Чь
-Ти
-Нуть

тьare quite irregular. Heres the past tense for течь meaning to throw. тек текла, текло, текли.
They all have a stem of the ch changing to a g or a k. Then that is the masculine past tense. Adding an a o or i on the end will make it the feminine, neuter, or plural respectively.


I believe that the verbs ending in ти only exist on the verbs of motion, which are completly irregular.

Honestly, don't do this to yourself. While your still learning you can stick with just knowing how to conjugate verbs ending in -ать, -ять, -еть, and -ить. That makes up more than 80% of verbs.

K.... I think I'll learn that stuff later... when I'm more advanced. so Now that I understand future and past tense verb forms... I think I'll be okay. Now it's just the nouns I gotta learn... unfortunately. I have the endings for Nom. Sing. of all genders written down in a chart I made.... but they're not memorized. I learned the perpositional case for nouns... just add e to the word after you do the necessary changes. but, unlike latin, Russian seems to have different endings for adjectives and stuff. I found a link off masterussian.com and they have the prepositional Nouns... Adjectives, and Pesonal pronouns and stuff. But they make it seems like the endings DO change for the adjectives and stuff. So, they got me confused on that.
