Russian has 6 cases. In the nominative case, the Russian word for "I" is "ya" (я). The nominative is sort of the default case in Russian -- it's the case you'll find used for nouns/adjectives in dictionaries, for example. "Menya" (меня) is the accusative/genitive form of 'я', which roughly corresponds to 'me' in English. You use я when "I" is the subject of the sentence and меня when I (me) is the object, after certain prepositions, and a few other conditions.

Just as a person uses English "I" and "me" always to refer to herself/himself and these two word-forms can't be used interchangeably, so Russian "я" and "меня" (as well as мне, мной) are the same kind of word that refer only to the speaker and are used in specific grammatical situations.

English does not have many of these changeable words left, but Russian is full of them, and every noun or pronoun or adjective has potentially twelve different forms, six each for singular and plural (but some forms always overlap, so we never have all 12).

We also have three types of grammatical gender - feminine, masculine, and neuter. So, there are several ways to say it, it depends on the context.

There are just 6 forms that overlap. So ultimately there are only 4 of them:

Singular:
N.c. - я
G.c. - меня
D.c. - мне
A.c. - меня
I.c. - мной
P.c. - (обо) мне

Plural (also only 4):
N.c. - мы
G.c. - нас
D.c. - нам
A.c. - нас
I.c. - нами
P.c. - (о) нас

myself cannot be plural it would be ourselves.

G.c. - Genetive case (Родительный падеж) - Меня нет
