Regarding 'for', I like the multik "Просто так"
    Мне? (For me?)
    Тебе. (For you.)
    За что? (For what?)
Просто так! (Just because!) / (No reason!)

What he's saying is don't try to find how to say the American phrase in Russian, but find the Russian way of expressing yourself for whatever it is and don't look for correlation between the two. Just remember it as that is what a Russian does. Like "I ain't doing that", don't ask how do I say "ain't" in Russian. Ask how do I express myself in the Russian way, to show that I am unwilling to do said action. Then remember that as the response to the Russian way of asking whatever it is.
