Speaking for myself, I did not see Doomer's post about Russian children abused in the US. If it was just a news article and an opening for discussion, it would not offend me really, although I am far from convinced that only the US abuses children...

However, I do not know what words Doomer used to introduce his topic. Maybe the words he used were provoking or offensive?

Personally, I do not think topics should be off limits because they are "controversial." But I do think that personal attacks should be moderated, because otherwise this forum will quickly devolve into a drunken tavern brawl where people are yelling "F*CK YOU!!!!!" "NO, F*CK YOU!!!!"

The name calling, personal attacks, and stalking is what concerns me. I do not agree with everyone's views about gay rights, for example, but that disagreement stays in the Sochi thread for me. I do not follow the people who disagreed with me onto other threads and attack them there to get even. This has, however, happened to me. On more than one occasion.

Obviously Lampada cannot get inside people's heads and make them stop being jerks. But she can moderate them when they attack other members of the forum, harass and stalk other members of the forum, or engage in character assassination.

On several occasions, people who read my blog have brought it up in completely unrelated threads and used it negatively against me. One individual actually tried to imply that I am somehow single handedly responsible for the poor quality of TV in Russia, ostensibly because I worked on a Dating Game show in the 1990's. That was one of the insults Lampada censored.

I've also seen a lot of very childish name calling, personal attacks and insults and so on. I would expect better behavior from adults, but it appears that some people cannot control their tempers and cannot separate the issue from the person.

I find the stalking behavior most disturbing of all. There are people on this forum who I must admit I am not especially fond of, but I do not follow them to different threads and attack them to "get even". What is the point? To frighten and harass someone and force them to leave, I suspect.

Sorry, stalkers, I'm not going anywhere.
