what the hell does this mean.

i have never got this error before, i just got it when i tried to repsond/ make fun of TU... whats goin on ?

It means the MySQL server was not accepting anymore connections at the time when you tried. It most likely had exceeded the queue and was telling you to try again in one or two seconds. Unless you mean that you got it yesterday, in which case it was because the MySQL server was down but the HTTP was running. This problem occurred a few times while the server was being fixed.

i guess i was more asking, "why" instead of what. and, no i got it about 30 seconds before i posted it *today* .

It seem like the back-up ISN'T backed up daily afterall! Not judging by the dates in all the threads.

Actually, they are backed up daily. This is a moot point when the problem occurs before the backup but isn't discovered until after it has taken place. Of course, this problem could be solved by rotating the backups but: A) This would take up quite a bit of space for the entire database to have several copies lying about; and B) This would require all sorts of "common sense" and "foresight" on my part. Unfortunately, I am allergic to them.

Aaaaaaaah, (sighs blissfully and gratefully) the forum is back - I felt rather lost without the mothership out there. Thanks for sorting it out!

Yes, awhile ago someone (ataman-jr I think) discovered some of the post counts and Inbox #s were negative. Because the forum software was reinstalled my patch for this problem is not included. I have the old directory though, so hopefully nothing is moved and it will only take a minute or two fix. Because this is a new version of phpBB I can't just use diff

And I have my old sig. Where did THAT come from? And where is the page on which you can see all the posts you missed? In the top right corner there used to be something like "unviewed posts (n)". You could click on that and then you'd see a page with all the posts made after the last time you visited the forum...
