я is silent at the end of the word русская?

Is the я silent at the end of the word русская? To me it sounds very much like roo-skuh, with no ya sound at the end whatsoever.

The Я can't be silent at all.
Just your hearing is not fine-tuned enough yet to hear it for sure.

The "й" sound is stuck between to "а" sounds and the whole thing is pronounced as a long "а" with a slight hitch in the middle of it. The "й" (the hitch) is articulated nowhere near as clearly as, for example, at the beginning of the word "яблоко" and I readily believe that it can be unrecognizable for an untrained ear. Also, I suspect that in careless speech it ("й", not "а") may disappear completely.

    Он же писал: на конце.
На конце я произносится без призвука Й. Но ни в коем случае не обрезается и не глушится. Потому как могут быть проблемы с распознаванием, например если заглушить Я в слове мантия, мы не сможем определить падеж (мантии, манию и т.п.). Значит сам язык не даст заглушить конечную безударную Я.

thanks for the information. Could everyone please listen to the speakers and let me know if you think they are pronouncing it correctly:

the audio file is here and can be listened to from within the browser:

If they are pronouncing the sound, it must be very slight.

The Я is here in every case. It sounds slurred a bit, but it's definitely here.
    It's just your hearing.

It's slurred because of the stress. As you know, the farther the sound off the stressed syllable, the more it is slurred. The Я is far enough.

This is what the last "-кая" in the recording looks like.

You need to use "further" here. In general, further expresses abstract distance while farther expresses literal distance.

    thank you! I appreciate that!

While I understood what you said, it is more likely we would say something like:

"It would be a great pleasure to make a recording for you."

    OR

"It would be my pleasure to make more recordings for you."

Also, it should be 'somethinG' else, with the letter 'g' at the end. Everything else is good though!
