Hello, this may be considered Multi-Threading, but I think this is the best place to post this question.

птаха малая = little bird

I'd like to use this expression for my new Russian girlfriend. I am not sure if this phrase is in the correct gender, and how do I pronounce it?

I would not suggest you use this expression. It will sound quite awkward.

Пташечка, пташка моя, птичка моя - would be fine.

Is this three variations of Little bird, or three different terms?

How would these be pronounced?
The Cryllic is no help to me at all, since I don't understand the written language.

If this would sound awkward, what would the Russian equivalent of "sweetie" be?

Krasata-ta Kakaya

Пташечка- Ptashechka

пташка моя- Ptashka moya
птичка моя - ptichka moya

Sweetie = Milaya - Милая
