I have a recording of someone saying "Подавайте его мне сюда!". When I heard it, the "г" in "его" is pronounced likely as "v", not "g".
And then I found out that г in "ничего", "приятного" in sentence "Приятного аппетита!" and "хорошего" in "Хорошего дня!" is also pronounced like that -- Looks like it also applies for endings for masculine and neuter adjectives in genitive singular (-ого, -его)...
Is there a special rule about pronouncing г in these cases?

sps, it's just historical development of language. The genitive masc./neuter sg. ending has /v/ in the Standard language. In dialects it can be pronounced with some other consonant.
Think about all the historical developments in English that have lead to one spelling being pronounced differently in different words. For example, rough, thorough, through.
I though there was a specific rule about this...

It's only in the genitive ending -его , -ого. The Г in сегодня is pronounced /v/ because the word originally was сего дня (of this day) (сего is the genitive of сей - this [it's archaic]).Quote:

The reason is we do not have 'h' sound in Russian. As you probably know, the Russian 'х' is not a 'h' sound, it's a different thing.Quote:

I have a dialect question:
I'm not sure where she came from, but I had a Russian professor born and bred in the Soviet Union. She was communist from the top of her red head to the bottom of her feet.
She would sometimes say the word "его" not as 'ево' but as 'е-г-о.'
Is there any such dialect as this?
