Thread: AaaaH! How do you pronounce Дела?

Дела. This seems to be for some reason the hardest word for me to pronounce in Russian. I have a friend who has been trying to help me, but they haven't been able to give a very detailed description on how to place your tongue or maybe some English or French words that share some similar pronunciation. I would really really appreciate help!!. I can't seem to make the 'ye' sound that comes from the 'e' in Дела. My friend (who speaks Russian fluently, as it is their first language) says that it is a very common sound in Russian and refuses to teach me more Russian until I have conquered the word, Дела. Also, I would really appreciate help on how to roll your tongue. I can roll well enough to say certain words, but for some reason not Руский (or is it spelled Рускйи??) Anyway, thanks for your help in advance!!

The best way to learn how to pronounce something is to hear it spoken.

I think, you should try to pronounce it like "дила".
OK, е is the most common letter in Russian, but it's pronounce like и very often.

P.S. saibot, of course, is right. Listen how your friend pronounce it.

делааа, yeah, you should try to speak the way that pranki shown you, like:

- ПРЕВЕТ!!!!
- ЧМОКИ!!
- КАКДИЛА?
- СУПИР! АКАКТЫ?
- НАМАНА!
- СКОКАТИБЕЛЕТ, ФОТКАЕСТ?

Короче, если дела (plural of дело), тогда [дила].
А если дела (genetive singular of дело), тогда [дела] with that "dye-" thing.

How hard is it really? Stressed E is Ye, unstressed e, is e.
If your mental capacity is so low that you have to start replacing e with И then you probably dont have enough brain matter to continue learning russian anyways.

Далеко sounds a lot more like Daleko than daliko to me.

В фразе "Мне целый вечер подари, подари", вы можете слышать слово "мне"? Не могу. Это очень тихий?

Он там вместо "мне" спел "хоть". Его песня: хозяин - барин.

It definetely doesn't. And it was a bad example because 'e' sounds like 'э' - [кампйутэр].
