I just wondering how they managed to explain to the people who watched this movie how the russians are bad guys.

Please, correct my mistakes, except for the cases I misspell something on purpose!
They did not have to explain much...
To see the answer start from 7-20 but the whole interview is very interesting.

Can't edit? I just wanted the post to be more suggestive than critical. I was hoping you would elaborate on your post, Maria.
If you ask me, the USA and their Governments have been pushing towards socialism for decades. People who want it will get their wish in due time.
The critique against Russia is more of an act than anything else. Imho.
I do not care if he is Marx or Smith's sympathizer... "A communist sympathizer" is just another cliché, which you were taught to consider faulty. Have you ever read Marx yourself?
I used mr. Fromm analysis in answer the initial post, where Russian were shown in a positive way. A cold war arrived in few years. And after WW2 US propaganda started to show a very different picture. As far as I understand the question was how could it happen that people accepted the change so fast?
In my veiw mr. Fromm gives a clear answer, which is very close to truth. Besides, we have a very similar situation in Russia now, which he sad. Moreover, if you have seen the interview till the end, you might have noticed that his forecast for Russia and US future is also coming true. And it has nothing to do with Marx (Ihmo his views is more close to anarchist than socialist).
And in fact I do admire the Americans of 1958, who were giving the word to the dissidents, which never happened in my country.

From: The Battle of Russia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"In order to justify the Western Allies alliance with the Soviet Union, the episode, like the entire Why We Fight series, misportrayed or simply omitted many facts, which could have cast doubts on the "good guy" status of the Soviets, such as the Nazi-Soviet alliance, Soviet invasion of Poland; Soviet occupation of the Baltic States, Winter War and others.[1] Virtually in line with the Soviet propaganda, the series was not only screened but widely acclaimed in the Soviet Union.[2] To exonerate the Soviets, the series casts even cast less important Allies, like the Poles, in the bad light.[1][2] The episode has been described as "a blatant pro-Soviet propaganda posing as factual analysis."
I think the "keeping" Eastern Europe might have been a factor. Maybe the Berlin Airlift/ Wall too.
I'm easily amused late at night...

Do you mean that they used the fact of keeping Eastern Europe and Berlin Wall to change people's opinion towards Russia?
You don't study well...
After World War 2, USA slowly gave control back to the occupied areas. France, Italy, etc. USSR kept everything.
USA slowly let Japan go.
Communist China Invaded South Korea (With USSR technological help "Mig")
So, 2 WW@ "Allies" went on an expansionist tear.
USA said "HEY! You shouldn't do that!"
And we fight proxy wars.
Is anyone innocent?

If you think the USA is a "Colonial Empire",

I don't want this topic to get political. (Thanks Basil!)![]()
I'm easily amused late at night...
I am asking questions because I want to know your opinions, not the description of the events, to which, by the way, I do agree...
And I do not understand why it is so difficult to answer them... without getting defensive.
Also "Colonial Empire" it is your term, I never said so. And I am not interested in discussing Colonial Empires or innocence of the politics. On the contrary, I assume that the politics is dirty.
I just still got no answer how (not why)...? Except for mr. Fromm's...
I'll try to explain.....Well, for instance, it is about 20 years now since USSR has gone, but our Government is still unable to convince the majority of people that one -ism is better than the other -ism (I do not want a discussion on -isms or why America/Russia is good or bad). Yet in case of US transition of majority from "one attitude" to "a contrary attitude " went very fast. So my question is how did it happened (or how did they managed) that people accepted the change (adopted the contrary attitude) so fast?

Because
a. You don't study well...
b. "HEY! You shouldn't do that!"...
c. you think the USA is a "Colonial Empire"... is nice but still gives no answer.
I am rather asking on sociology or psychology of the phenomenon...
If you have any other idea, please, give me the reasoning (other from mr Fromm's) behind it... or a link to a video/text which explains it.
