Please, correct my mistakes, except for the cases I misspell something on purpose!
They're just jealous that you've got the largest country..... and all the natural resources they are talking about in the film.
I just wondering how they managed to explain to the people who watched this movie how the russians are bad guys.
Please, correct my mistakes, except for the cases I misspell something on purpose!
They did not have to explain much...
To see the answer start from 7-20 but the whole interview is very interesting.

Can't edit? I just wanted the post to be more suggestive than critical. I was hoping you would elaborate on your post, Maria.
If you ask me, the USA and their Governments have been pushing towards socialism for decades. People who want it will get their wish in due time.
The critique against Russia is more of an act than anything else. Imho.
I do not care if he is Marx or Smith's sympathizer... "A communist sympathizer" is just another cliché, which you were taught to consider faulty. Have you ever read Marx yourself?
I used mr. Fromm analysis in answer the initial post, where Russian were shown in a positive way. A cold war arrived in few years. And after WW2 US propaganda started to show a very different picture. As far as I understand the question was how could it happen that people accepted the change so fast?
In my veiw mr. Fromm gives a clear answer, which is very close to truth. Besides, we have a very similar situation in Russia now, which he sad. Moreover, if you have seen the interview till the end, you might have noticed that his forecast for Russia and US future is also coming true. And it has nothing to do with Marx (Ihmo his views is more close to anarchist than socialist).
And in fact I do admire the Americans of 1958, who were giving the word to the dissidents, which never happened in my country.
Maria
Generally, most of those anti-Russia movies (which tried to introduce Russians as bad guys) were made during the Cold War (like the original Red Dawn), at which point Russia and the US were no longer allies, but instead enemies.
But it's very sad that, Still, some directors can't understand that the cold war is over.
For example, i was watching Desperate Housewives TV series, and some episodes made me so so disappointed =>
We All Deserve to Die (TV episode 2010) - IMDb
My Two Young Men (TV episode 2010) - IMDb
Chromolume No. 7 (TV episode 2010) - IMDb
You can watch it, or read the summary in IMDB ( which i have linked )
It is for 2010, and "still" they try to show us, Russian girls as gold diggers, without-soul humans or in other conclusion "bad" .

Come on MISSFOXYSWEETCHERRY, don't we have mass media, which shows Americans in a bad way?
The Cold War ideology is a good lever for both country's politicians. So I don't think they will abolish this practice soon.
As to our present cinema it is just drifting somewhere between Nikolay II Romanov and the early Boris Yeltsin, studying the dust of consumption, crime, and Cinderella scenarios, which is just boring.
"The Battle of Russia" was made by Frank Capra in 1943 as part of the "Why We Fight" series (5/7). They were shown to primarily US servicemen. Why, yes, I've seen them all in a film class.
It gives a history of Russia AND WHY WE WERE FIGHTING WITH THEM AGAINST THE NAZIS!
It's Pro-Russia.
Desperate Housewives?
I'm easily amused late at night...
Yes it is Pro-Russia.
The initial question was how did they managed to explain to the people who watched this movie how the Russians are bad guys (in the next Cold War period I believe).
In my view the key answer is psychology. And mr. Fromm interview (Интервью Эриха Фромма телеканалу ABC (эфир от 25 мая 195 - YouTube) gives an analysis, which seems to me close to truth.
But in fact people here talk rather of what they consider important around the theme, than answer the question of Basil77.
I hate Housewives too.
axaxa, True.
But Maria, honestly there are some (maybe even a little) Russian films which were shown the Americans with dignity.
But (maybe it's my bad!!) I've never watched any American movie which shows Russians with dignity.
And also, it annoys me, cause "some" people believe all of these movies. -sigh-

MISSFOXYSWEETCHERRY, some people believe that the Earth is flat...so what?
The fact is that people don't want to think themselves any more, and politics use it to a high degree.
But I rather more worried about a possibility of losing the educational system in Russia. That is what really dangerous... and creates multiple flat Earths.
So, you are not fully fluent in English and you think you understand that video?
Cliché?!? So, what makes you qualified to determine what I am taught? If I am taught anything, I'm "taught" to think critically and try to apply logic as best I can.
You're talking about a MSM TV network that uses a 'liberal' (read: left-wing) TV anchor to CAREFULLY CRAFT questions to a socialist psychoanalyst. I'm sure he's exploited the system he criticizes to become quite affluent. This is all to dull the senses of the audience and portray this 'black and white' situation. They omit all the intangibles. Not only has every single one of the socialist systems failed but the accusaton that capitalism per se is responsible solely for this decay or that it is so simple to make the sweeping generalization without any evaluation or analysis is the real propaganda. There's a general push towards this fascist socialism in every country and it's what should be discussed.
Goverments use the corporate world to establish it but no one is debating or discussing this on national TV.
First of all, i am not provided, so yes, i choosed myself.
And excuse me, everyone has their own individual taste.
I like it, and i watch it.
Not only i have watched Desperate housewives, i also have watched Grey's Anatomy and Prison break, cause "in my idea" they seemed intresting and helpful.
And i think, "i" should say which program helps "me" more.
Please respect yourself, and respect everyone's idea/taste.

From: The Battle of Russia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"In order to justify the Western Allies alliance with the Soviet Union, the episode, like the entire Why We Fight series, misportrayed or simply omitted many facts, which could have cast doubts on the "good guy" status of the Soviets, such as the Nazi-Soviet alliance, Soviet invasion of Poland; Soviet occupation of the Baltic States, Winter War and others.[1] Virtually in line with the Soviet propaganda, the series was not only screened but widely acclaimed in the Soviet Union.[2] To exonerate the Soviets, the series casts even cast less important Allies, like the Poles, in the bad light.[1][2] The episode has been described as "a blatant pro-Soviet propaganda posing as factual analysis."
I think the "keeping" Eastern Europe might have been a factor. Maybe the Berlin Airlift/ Wall too.

Do you mean that they used the fact of keeping Eastern Europe and Berlin Wall to change people's opinion towards Russia?
