Does being sick in USA mean being criminal???

The sad story about Robert Danilov (Daniels), who came to USA to treat tuberculosis -- and was treated. As criminal.

    http://english.pravda.ru/world/americas ... _patient-0

Daniels, known as Robert Danilov in Russia, holds both Russian and American citizenships. He moved to Arizona last year and was treated for drug-resistant TB. Last August, the 28-year-old Daniels was placed in solitary confinement in the jail ward, the AP reports.
A judge had ruled Daniels recklessly exposed others to his illness by going out in public without a mask. While in custody, he was treated as an inmate, confined in isolation and kept under video surveillance most of the time. Daniels was not given a phone, shower, television or other comforts.

I'm surprised, why all these "human right" guys are saying nothing about this story. Or, maybe, they can't earn much money from this one?

I watched a TV program about it. They stress on the fact that it's illegal not to declare you're being sick with highly virulent disease when crrossing the border. I don't remember the details though and might be wrong.

Я слышал, в Штатах, игличанинов (жену и мужа) упрятали в каталагу на год, за то что на 5 минут оставили свое грудное чадо в тачке.

I don't see where human rights come in to play, apart from the old issue of conditions in jail. If he broke the law, he goes to jail. I am glad I wasn't the guy sitting next to him on the plane!

I agree with that. But even so, TB is hard to catch and generally the most at risk are those living in the same house as the TB sufferer and there has been no link between air travel and the spread of TB. It appears the judge was quite harsh, but I get the impression there is probably more to this story.
More madness than method but it works for me.

Нашел еще одну ссылку, правда на русском:

    http://www.newsru.com/world/10oct2007/tuber.html

    It continues:

Daniels may have trouble if Russian authorities find he still has tuberculosis. If he entered the country as a Russian citizen, authorities would be required to quarantine and treat him, while if he arrived as a foreigner, they would be required to deport him.

As far as I know, Danilov is now in Russia, in decent hospital, and (definitely) not in prison. Post factum all quoted speculations are looking very lame.

A russian hospital is worse than an American prison though.

    LOL, TATY just pwned Scorpio!

Seriosuly though, American prisons may be better than Russian prisons, but hardly a Russian hospital! Not that I've been to either

трудно поверить, что русская больница хуже чем американская тюрьма.
