so this is kind of old news a little bit, but I'm wondering what was the Russian reaction when this was news, and even though it's old news, it doesn't mean it's not still relevant today.

and what do Russians feel about Judeo-Islamic Male Genital Mutilation?

to me, Americans and westerners try to erroneously distinguish FGM and MGM, but Russians seem to have a lot more common sense and are not hemmed up by political correctness (when it comes to having to respect Judeo-Islamic MGM).

So why is it the issue of Dagestanis and Muslims circumcising girls any less inflammatory for Russians than when the same people circumcise boys?

circumcision isn't practiced in Russia outside of Judaism and Islam, so unlike the west (especially America) where it is practiced outside of Judeo-Islamic culture, I think Russians should be in a position to objectively oppose the forced genital cutting of any child.

Chechnya, Dagestan and some others caucasus regions are some kind of powder barrels.
They have a lot of outdated and anti-humanitatrian laws and customs.
But central government are limited in the ways of influence there. Nobody wants another chechen 'fight for freedom'.
So they kill each other in vendetta, prosecute gays, traumatize women and so on... Well... this is zoo, you can watch how medieval people (with hot blood and pride above their heads) acted. As a zoo this land has some wall of protection against human rights. They build it themselves and it will take some time to remove it by government because it must act carefully.

MGM is almost ok, but IMHO this thing isn't actually in need in modern world of hygiene and high priests should convert it to optional and man should choose it for himself after 16 years or something. But it's ok. But FGM, imho, must be banned at all levels.
