I believe in Democracy.
I have no/very little faith in Democracy.
I am torn, cannot make up my mind.
When I get a glass of water from the kitchen tap, I can drink it with out getting sick. This is a governance issue. (civic, local) I like potable water coming out of the tap. Although this is a local issue, it is connected to state issues of public health and related issues of safety. While the historical record shows several errors, lapses etc, generally the reason government has stepped into these areas is directly because of abuses that occur in the absence of government/regulation.@Seraph, it is not true for ALL Americans, of course. I think Anixx just wanted to get a point across. But quite a fair share of Americans hold this view, don't they? Republicans, "tea-party" supporters, evangelical Christians, survivalists, and many others.. They think that people should take care of themselves, pay for just about every service they want to use, and that the state should do very little apart from uphold law and order...
Perhaps people are simply unaware of useful things that government does, things in the vital interests of the populace.
