I'd like to see «former USSR» than this shameful CIS. «Commonwealth of Temporarily Independent from Russia States», as my tutor-colonel once said.

I still cannot find a right option for me

BTW, 'former USSR' and 'CIS' are not equivalent. Former USSR = CIS + Baltic states.

I could not recognize what CIS is, so I voted for Asia and it's true - I live over the 60 meridian - it's a border between Europe and Asia.

You should have just made the pole pure-bred, or muts. I doubt there are any americans that aren't a mix of somthing. Except for all the immigrants from the other countries who have gained citizenship. It seems like most Russians are all Russian, and if not, they are just a mix of the slavic countries. Here you will find african american/caucasion mix, asian/caucasian mix, you name it! I guesse we are just lovey people . Anyone here who is all caucasian you can go ahead and assume that they are some soart of European mix. Although, my late grandmother swore that we have African American in the family, but if you could see how white I am, thats a joke!

I don't really think most Russians are "all Russians." What does "Russian" mean anyway in terms of appearance? Many of them look quite different to me. Some of them are very European looking, with blonde hair and blue eyes and the like, whereas other still look European but they have dark eyes and dark hair. Then you have Tatars which look different themselves and some which look more Caucasian than others(by Caucasian here I mean like people from Georgia, Azerbaijan, etc., not "white guy"). As well there are Buryats and many other different ethnic groups in the East which look more Asian, and in some regions on the Chinese/Mongolian border you even have people which look completely East Asian! I remember when I was younger I was fascinated to learn that the Tuva, with the multitone singers, was actually in Russia.

As for Americans swearing to have multicultural roots, I found it amusing that every single White American I have encountered claims to be Irish. I guess it sounds good to be Irish, I don't know, but all of them claim to be "part-Irish." Even when I am talking to a guy with black hair and dark brown eyes who looks more Italian than anything. A goodly amount of them sometimes claim to be "part Native American" which just cracks me up. Some intermarriage was possibile, sure, but not on the scale that people want to make me believe!

yea, but we've got everthing here. In America, we have a significant peice of every nationality. Thats what causes so much diversity! Not many people immigrate to Siberia, for instance, from another country. It seems that most people living in Siberia, have their roots in Siberia. If not, then they have mainly slavic ancestry or asian. My boyfriend as well as another girl I know are both from Novesbirsk (excuse me if I spelt it wrong), but they do have totally different looks. So I see what you're saying.

In Russia, too, there are blacks and Arab people. Just look at Moscow! Of course, there is certainly not as large a black population as in the US(for obvious reasons). There is a small amount of East Asians in both countries, I don't know how much for Russia, but for the US I believe it was around 2%.

In Europe and Asia, people generally do not move around as much as in the US. That is, they might go somewhere else for college, but they usually live and get a job near the same area they were born or where their family has lived for decades. Of course in the US the idea is always to get out of the house as quickly as possible and then find a job wherever pays the best(which is not necessarily a bad idea )

But I don't know what you mean by "have roots in Siberia." Do you mean that their family has lived there for a while or that they are Buryat/other race native to Siberia? What does that have to do with diversity in Russia? As for mainly slavic ancestry or asian, well that's quite a mix there. You don't have white/black mixes as you do in the US, but you have many white/asian, white/caucasian mixes.

But the Irish are supposed to be dark-haired (they are Celts, remember?). I know eight people from Ireland in St Petersburg (from Dublin, Limerick, Derry and Baltimore), seven of them have pitch black hair and one girl is a peroxyde blonde (that is no one knows what colour her hair really is). Of course, there are many redheads among them too - thank Cromwell for that...
