    Что уж

    Hi folks!

A while ago I read an article in Russian on the Internet and came across a following phrase -> что уж.

It comes from a sentence like this -> Порой трава вырастает такой высоты, что даже взрослого человека не видно, что уж говорить о ребенке.

I can't find the exact meaning in my Czech dictionary. In my opinion it means -> "not speaking about a child".

In Czech we use "nemluvě o dítěti" (for native speakers who can speak Czech).

I would also like to know whether "Порой" means "sometimes".

In this case it means - not to mention/let alone. Like, Sometimes grass grows so high that a full-grown person can't be seen when in it, not to metion/let alone a child

    Порой - yes, it's sometimes.
    fortheether and impulse like this.
I do not claim that my opinion is absolutely true.
If you've spotted any mistake in my English, please, correct it. I want to be aware of any mistakes to efficiently eliminate them before they become a habit.
