Albumen/protein energy breathed into us
Forged ploughs and swords,
But the enemy has conceived evil-ly,
Decided to spoil our food,
The evil genius was of evils, and clever, (зол = genitive plural)
With Dutch mountains in deep rear, (far behind?)
A squad of layers of saboteurs,
In parachutes were dropped,
(Like?) Salmonella* straight from the freeze/freezing weather,
He/it penetrates into the rears of soviet chickens,
The country froze before the threat,
But Stalin had a smoking break...
*food poisoning
The line about the chickens; is it meant to represent some lack of preparedness of the Russian military? A 'play on words'; as in the 'rear guard' (the ones far behind front lines) = (hen's) rears/arses?
And why Dutch mountains? ( I think that's what it says...) Obviously there are no real mountains in Holland, is it a joke?
Sounds like the start of a long epic satirical poem to me. Is it long?
