Thread: счет или счёт?

Which is correct счeт /счёт, as in the phrase:
"на чужой счeт /счёт— at somebody else's expense"?

It is more correct to write "счёт", but the other version is also acceptable, especially in books. This is because the letter 'ё' is often replaced with 'e' in typography. Whether it's replaced or not, it is always pronouced as 'ё'
