Thread: пошумливать and ущербности

Can somebody help me with a couple of words?
I cannot figure out what пошумливать and ущербности mean.

Проклиная все на свете, я подошел к столу, сел и выпил несколько глотков прямо из бутылки. Стал ждать, когда начнет пошумливать в голове, надеясь, что, может, это освободит меня от ущербности

Damning everything in the world, I approached to a table, sat and drank a few drinks directly from the bottle. I began to wait, when will start пошумливать in the head, hoping, that, can, it will release me from ущербности.

ущербности are like impairments....as for the other word. I dont know. *tear*

Пошумливать is a deliberately made mistake. In that particular case it means шуметь (be noisy). And prior to the word ущербности is missing the word ощущения. The complete expression should sounds like this: “это освободит меня от ощущения (чувства) ущербности” – it will release me from the sense (feeling) of worthlessness (defectiveness, unimportance, insignificance)

Just my quick comment on "Пошумливать". Russian is rich in prefixes/suffixes and ways to create new words. Some words could be considered not serious and user created so to say. People sort of make up words. Say "Махать" - to wave. You can change it to "помахивать" - this word is not new but you may not find it in a dictionary. Meaning not to wave in a regular manner but to wave at random or wave weakly.

I have помахивать in dictionaries.
