It is clear that the correct one is "подгоняет ночи тень", but it's funny how the incorrect one is much more spread in the Internet.
Try googling "подгоняет ночь и день" (in quotes!), that's 90500 pages, and "подгоняет ночи тень", only 26500 pages.
