    "given that"

    Здравствуй.

I have some problem in identifying this translation in Russian of the expression "given that". I provide few examples:
    1. People enjoying speaking with him about economics, given that he is one of the most famous economist in USA.
    2. Given that you didn't pay me yet, I must cancel your insurance policy.
    3. The bank cannot provide him a loan, given that he failed to pay back his previous loan.
    4. Given that Russian failed to provide them military help, they were forced to ask help from another country.

P.S. My teacher used the word: "поскольку". Does it makes sense for you?

In your examples it should be "учитывая, что"/"принимая во внимание, что" - in literary/official style. "Поскольку" is OK too.

"Россия для русских" - это неправильно. Остальные-то чем лучше?

Could I solve it this way too (?):
"Since he is one of the most famous economist in the USA, people enjoy..."

Исходя из ... /Так как ... would be among my choices. I know it's completely different if you rip those apart - and not quite literally what the OP means - but the English sentence can be reformulated so as to make those fragments in Russian work.

Looking at examples, I see, that different translations are possible:
    Так как ...,
    при том, что ... ,
    поскольку ...,
    с учётом того что ...,
    учитывая ...,
    в связи с тем, что...

    My versions:
    1) Поскольку он является одним из известнейших американских экономистов, неудивительно, что людям нравится обсуждать с ним экономические вопросы.
    2) Поскольку вы мне до сих пор не заплатили, я вынужден аннулировать ваш полис.
    3) Банк не может предоставить ему очередную ссуду, так как он не смог расплатиться по предыдущей.
    4) В связи с тем, что Россия не смогла предоставить им военную помощь, они были вынуждены просить помощи у другой страны.

I have also an additional question based on the same idea. How I will translate the expression:
"He didn't satisfy the requirements. Given that we shouldn't consider his application"
Additionally I would like to ask how is translated:
"Every afternoon at this time he is sleeping. So we shouldn't call him now."

Он не соответствует [нашим] требованиям, поэтому нам не стоит рассматривать его заявление.
В это время днем он спит, поэтому нам не стоит звонить ему.
Я изучаю английский язык и поэтому делаю много ошибок. Но я не прошу Вас исправлять их, Вы можете просто ткнуть меня носом в них, или, точнее, пихнуть их мне в глаза. I'm studying English, and that's why I make a lot of mistakes. But I do not ask you to correct them, you may just stick my nose into them or more exactly stick them into my eyes.
