    Difference between близко and рядом?

My dictionary said that they both mean near, and I really don't understand how to use them. Could someone explain the difference for me, and use it in a sentence? Thanks.

I would say рядом is very close or a few steps away and близко would be other there like around the corner.

Be aware of the following difference between the prepostions that are used with these adverbs:

близко к and sometimes с is also possible
    рядом с

Can it also mean nearby? I mean, I try to associate a mental image with the word, and I usually need to know if the word has many meanings or not. Thanks

Thanks. Say, is that Horny from Quake III, or Dungeon Keeper II?
