I came to the conclusion along time ago that the modern Russian language was reformed by the КГБ to confuse foreigners and catch flabbergasted spies. An evil communist conspiracy...mwahahaha. lol.

For all my years of studying it, it still gives me fits. I used to be a proponent of the fully-formed ё and then I started typing and realized that it's a heck of alot easier to simply type е, and save yourself the finger strain of the infernal ё.

Here are lyrics to memorize this slang word better

    the lingvo says

    клево
    cool; awesome; super; splendid

Syn: круто , классно , здорово

Let me suppose I suppose the word "клёво" is formed from the word "клёв", which means biting, bite, good fishing, etc

Собрались мы на рыбалку. А как не собраться, ведь при такой погоде отличный клёв. Клёвая погода, одним словом. И настроение тоже клёвое. Настроение было клёвое еще и от того, что как выяснилось, лучше всего клевали поллитровые рыбины из моей сумки - московская и столичная, что, в прочем, одно и тоже. Ну вот, а к вечеру, абсолютно косые от нашего улова, мы вернулись домой.

In fact it is a keyboard design flaw, which IMHO contributed to the extinction of "ё". It would be better if this letter were not invented altogether, because finally it caused the transformation "iо" -> "е" in spelling. This transformation created an inconsistency between spelling and pronunciation, which, in its turn, caused some words to be pronounced as if the letter "е" (without umlaut) was there from the beginning (and vice versa).
So I think "ё" was kinda harmful to Russian language

Well according to this Karamzin is the man responsible for the ё: "Local writer Nikolai Karamzin invented the letter in 1797 to fill a gap for the sound he found lacking in the Russian alphabet." Not saying he Dashkov didn't -- well actually I am; the St. Petersburg Times would never, ever be wrong...

    http://www.livejournal.com/community...s/1785390.html

Ultimately I guess it doesn't matter who actually invented it, just so long as we can somehow convince people to say Горбачёв and Хрущёв, instead of Gore-bacheff and Krue-sheff... I am in favor of sticking to Puddin', Putten, and Pootey-Poot though...

    Ukrainian doesn't have a letter Ё
Thus, after a consonant, we have ьо after a vowel, or at the beginning of a word, йо

My friend was like "Why didn't they come up with a new letter in Russian". But the thing is Ё and Е are linked, like when a word is declined or pluralised, etc. yo can become ye, or vice versa.
