    Жить/пожить

    Hello.

    1. Я жил один надолго.
    2. Я пожил один до того дня, как мы с женой познакомились.

    How wrong is this?

    Thanks.

Wrong. "Я долго жил один" or "Я долго прожил один".

If you wanted to say "I had had my share of living alone before I met my wife", it is sort of passable. But barely. What did you actually try to say here?

Ok. Can you say "Я удалил его надолго" ("I send him away for long")?

Nope, I meant something more neutral. "I lived alone until I met my wife."
Может быть лучше сказать "Я жил один пока мы с женой не познакомились."?

"Надолго" is fine, "удалил" is not. "Я отослал его надолго", or maybe "Я выгнал/изгнал его надолго" -- it all depends on the context.

Great. Eventually this strange way of yours to translate "until" will become natural to me.

    Thanks!
