Плакатная, изуродованная цензурой «Молодая гвардия» поражает столь плотным собранием артистов-личностей, и Тихонов, — сыгравший небольшую роль Володи Осьмухина, - среди первых.

This is the hard one.

May be the author means that «Молодая гвардия» looks like propaganda poster (агитационный плакат).

In soviet times propaganda posters were one of the main channels of communication to the public. The posters were made in huge quantities and their purpose was to harden the mettle and temper the souls of "communism builders" and hold up to shame "public enemies". The style in wich the posters were usually drawn was rather dull, drab and nondescript. That's why the adjective плакатная is used by the author with this connotation (meaning "drab, dull").

I think here "плакатная" means oversimplified. Probably you can substitute it with "comics-like".
