    Внемля (archaic) = внимая (from the verb внимать)

    внимать (imperf.), внять (perf.) - listen (to); hear; hark (to); hearken; heed
    внимать молитве - to hear prayer
    внимать просьбе - to heed the request

    DDT, you caught me on that! I use that method more often than I care to admit. But, looking around for внемля I came across the following. This is a test for budding young poets, sort of like that little game with numbers that you have to slide around and rearrange into the correct sequence 123456789. The first verse of a famous poem. Rearrange the words to make yourself a famous poet!

    I would venture to say that every Russian knows at least this first verse.

    Я же, со своей стороны, предлагаю правила усложнить. Перед вами два перевода - угадать надо не только автора стихотворения (это совсем не трудно, учитывая ограниченные словарные запасы ПроМТовского Stylus'a и его коллеги-Сократа), но и переводчика.

    1.
    Я уезжаю один на дороге.
    Через туман кремнистый сияния пути.
    Ночь тиха. Пустыня учитывает Бога.
    И звезда со звездою говорит.

    2.
    Выхожу Один I на дорога.
    VWXbe кремнистый путь сквозит туман сияет.
    Ночное спокойствие. Пустыня внемлет Бога.
    И звезда с звезда говорит.

    Оба хороши, конечно. Второй, впрочем, более футуристично-заумен. Сократовский макаронизм. Они это продают.

    Замечу, что на сайте разработчиков многомудрого Сократа имеется еще и страничка "Немного юмора" (куда еще?), начинающаяся предложением
