Which russian word is the longest?

Just based on the number of letters.

    thank you

In french it is "anticonstitutionnellement" which is an adverb and means "against the constitution".

I don't know the longest word in english either.

My favourite 'everyday' long Russian word is probably достопримечательностями
преподавательницами also amuses me for some reason.
Sure there's zillions of much longer ones though.
Море удачи и дачу у моря

By the way the longest russian abbreviation is НИИОМТПЛАБОПАРМБЕТЖЕЛБЕТРАБСБОРМОНИМОНКОНОТДТЕХСТРОМОНТ (55 letters).

It stands for "Научно-исследовательская лаборатория операций по армированию бетона и железобетонных работ по сооружению сборно-монолитных и монолитных конструкций отдела технологии строительно-монтажного управления" (Краткий словарь советской терминологии).

Actaully quoted in http://dictionary.reference.com/sear...daliophobia%20 - usually pretty reliable.

    This is better - http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Hippop...ppedaliophobia

Mike, I try to choose my words carefully!
I said it was silly, not wrong (this because I certainly I couldn't be bothered to check it, and in any case vaguely remembered it). I still don't understand what horses have to do with it, though

I didn't really know what you meant waxwing. I did think it rather an unlikely word, so thought I'd check it out. But now you come to mention it, how is a word 'silly'? I've seen some words referred to as 'stupid'? Always makes me laugh when I see that
For my money it's great to have a really long word that means a 'fear of long words', even if it leaves something to be desired in the etymology department - makes life worth living

In Hungarian the longest word is infinite, because when they write numbers like "nineteen thousand and twenty two" they do it like this: "nineteenthousandtwentyone". The longest Hungarian word is as long as the biggest number.
