Thread: сломы, пересломы, ломка, травмы

In a video of Golosa, a doctor speaks about his work (he is a traumatolog) and says he deals with: сломы, пересломы, ломка, травмы. Save the last травмы, that can suppose a blow without a fracture, the rest are translated in my dictionary with the same word: FRACTURE. I suppose that some difference may exists among them. I know that this question is better for a medical forum, so if no answer is given I will put it in the folder: Things that the time will solve. Thanks.

ломка (slang) - withdrawal (abstinence syndrome)

Well, I should have been more accurate. The doctor says that he deals with переломы, травмы, ожоги. It is an oral / written exercise. And one must choose among the following words (written) those that have been said: ожоги, изжога, сломы, переломы, ломка, травмы, травмотолог .
As for the word слом I see in the dictionary two meanings: 1) (action) demolition; 2) (место) fracture. Thank you.

Thank you. Perhaps this word is in this list because of the same semantic root "лoм-" : break ?. There are also other words with the same root but no conection with medical activity of a traumatolog, as "abstinence-syndrome", as you have made clear. So perhaps it would refer to the fracture of a building, f.e. Tks.
