    Question Prepositional case

Hi everyone, this phrase "я посмотрела салют на улице с мoей семьей" for me is wrong. I´d write "я посмотрела салюте на улице с моей семье", because I´m using the prepositional case, then the words need to be in prepositional case. Am I right or wrong?

    Thanks a lot!

"я посмотрела салют на улице с мoей семьей" is correct. This is accusative.

The prepositional would be "я говорила о салюте с моей семьей". In this case you have preposition, and prepositional case.

    Just like that)

Thanks, but I didn´t understand. This phrase is in accusative case, OK, but I just can´t understand why instead of prepositional case I have to use accusative case if in the phrase I used на(preposition). I saw after prepositions I use prepositional case, so семьея in prepositional case is семьеe, right?.
    Sorry, but I´m really confused.

It's not quite clear what the task is. To insert omitted preposition, or to translate the sentence? (I saw the fireworks outside with my family, is it to be translated?)

in this sentence there is prepositional 'на улице' , maybe it's about that when you mean prepositional?

"на" only affects the noun, pronoun or adjective with the noun that follow it; it doesn't affect the whole sentence. As for your example, I saw (what? - a direct object (Accusative)) the salute on the street (Prepositional because of "на") with my family (Instrumental because of "с").

I think your confusion comes from the designation "prepositional case". This is not intended to mean that it is the case which is always used after any preposition. Instead it is a case which is only used after certain prepositions, and never on its own. That's why it is called prepositional case. All the other cases except the nominative are also frequently, but not exclusively, used after certain prepositions, and each preposition is connected to one or more cases. I get the impression that most Russian prepositions are connected with the genitive case, but they are used more rarely than prepositions connected with other cases. Depending on the meaning to be conveyed, a preposition can also be connected with different cases. For example, на + accusative is used for movement towards a place, whereas на + prepositive is used for being at a place. So на работу = towards work, на работе = at work.

Actually it should be "я посмотрела салют на улице со своей семьей"

С + genitive and c + accusative are also usable.
"Россия для русских" - это неправильно. Остальные-то чем лучше?

When I wrote that, I had in mind some rare and quirky example, but now I can't recall it.

    Edit: here, I found it:

с вин. п. обозначает приблизительную меру ◆ Там было груза весом с тонну. ◆ Мальчик с пальчик. ◆ С гулькин носик.
