    political firework, step on neck

When a politician (usually populist) tries to draw the attention on himself he uses "political fireworks", i.e. he is expressing ideas or thoughts that are pretty/popular (e.g. let's through away immigrants they are stilling our jobs).
Do you use also this expression.
Also a second question: The expression step on neck / step on the callus does not exist in English but it is used in my mother language. The meaning in simple: when you are in переговоры and you know that your co-speaker has a weakness and you mention it in order to take what you want.
Чем больше слов, тем меньше они стоят.
