    Perfective / imperfective variants

- it sounds strange to me. It's like, you are walking and the same time you are preparing dinner. You are preparing while walking.

Пойду готовлю ужин. Here, the future mixes with the present. It's like, you are only going to go, but somehow you are preparing dinner now. It sounds strange, too.

Пойду готовить ужин. It's correct. It's like, you have strong intention to go to prepare dinner. "It's enough to delay! I'll go and prepare dinner. "
Пойду приготовлю ужин. - correct. You just decided to prepare dinner.

    - Иду готовить ужин.
    - Иду приготовить ужин.
Both mean "I'm going to cook dinner", but not like the phrase "I'm going..." usually implies. It sounds like you're moving for cooking dinner right now, that's a bit urgent.

    - Пойду готовить ужин.
    - Пойду приготовить ужин.
Here we can see the future tense + infinitive, but if we're talking about these sentences "as it is", usually it means (in everyday speech) that you can (or you are going to) go for cooking dinner right now. In this case it has the same sense like the first two sentences.
But if we look at the issue on the other hand, it can mean different things. Especially if your examples are a part of the long sentence.
Я пойду готовить ужин после того, как посмотрю кино. Here I'm going to cook dinner in the immediate future.

    - Иду приготовлю ужин. - doesn't make sense.
    - Пойду приготовлю ужин.
This one also means you are going to cook dinner right now (and I couldn't invent a good example where it can be a part of the long sentence and the sense changes).
So, the most common phrases are: Пойду приготовлю ужин. Пойду готовить ужин. Иду готовить ужин. (the last one sounds Ok if your friends suddenly came.)

About perfective/imperfective aspects. Actually, sometimes you can use either of the imperfective or perfective forms. It just means you don't care about special nuances of the situation (in this case with your dinner). That's why you can see that we exchange the forms sometimes.
However, "Пойду приготовить ужин" sounds more specific than "Пойду готовить ужин". The last one implies a long process. As if you hint "it takes time".

    - Иду готовлю ужин. - doesn't makes sense
    - Пойду готовлю ужин. - doesn't makes sense

    - Иду готовить ужин. - 1. Most decided.
    - Иду приготовить ужин. - Unnatural.
    - Пойду готовить ужин. 2. Less decided. (Maybe I will...)
    - Пойду приготовить ужин. - Unnatural.
    - Иду приготовлю ужин. - Gibberish.
    - Пойду приготовлю ужин. 3. Less decided. (Maybe I will...)
    - Иду готовлю ужин. - Gibberish.
    - Пойлу готовлю ужин. - Gibberish.

3 Implies that you are the only person who will cook while in 2 you can just join a group of cooks who are already in process of cooking (but that is about prefix при- rather than about all perfective verbs).
"Россия для русских" - это неправильно. Остальные-то чем лучше?

OK... thanks for the answers. The differences really aren't that easy to grasp. I'll go through it a couple more times.

I am surprised it-ogo considered variants with "приготовить" unnatural. Hmm. Paul did mention the three most common sentences and "приготовить" isn't in there, so that would sort of make sense...

I can say it sounds not "unnatural", but just very uncommon. It looks like you will cook THE dinner (though in this case that's not obvious, merely a slight nuance), so it would be weird if you say about dinner (which is not ready yet) like about "the dinner".
In fact, there are a lot of cases when you can use "иду/еду/лечу/бегу etc" + a verb in the perfective form. Just remember that almost all of these constructions sound uncommon or special (when you mean "THE" action/thing you're going to do).

    - Куда ты едешь?
    - Я еду/иду сдать документы (the documents)

    - Куда ты идешь?
    - Я иду отправить письмо (the letter)

    - Ку да ты так торопишься?
    - Я бегу сдать кровь для пострадавших (for the victims, you're a going to do a specific action for them)

If we exchange the perfective for the imperfective, it doesn't mean that "the" disappeared (it depends on context). It just means we concentrate on the process more than on the objects.

If you ask WHY instead of Where it will work fine

Я бы употреблял эти 3 (из всех предложенных)

    - Иду готовить ужин.
    - Пойду готовить ужин.
    - Пойду приготовлю ужин.

the hidden pattern is this: Иду или пойду что-то ДЕЛАТЬ (инф.несоверш.) аналогично - Иду гулять/Пойду гулять, Иду выбирать книгу/Пойду выбирать книгу (the difference is very sligth, я иду - emphasises the process, я пойду - emphasises the action, the fact), the pattern works both with иду and пойду (i can't think of any cases where it doesn't work)

the 2nd (different) pattern is Пойду что-то СДЕЛАЮ (соверш.), it works if and only if
    1) Пойду is used
    2) совершенный вид используется.

e.g. Пойду приготовлю блины, Пойду сварю суп, Пойду почитаю книгу, Пойду умоюсь, Пойду нажрусь (slang for 'drink hard drinks'), Пойду проверю почту - the implication here is I will go and DO it.
