Thread: The Particle Ни

I was wondering, where can this particle be used, other than when it's been seperated from the rest of the word in double negative expressions.
Я не читаю ни о чём. - I'm not reading about anything.
Я не говорю ни с кем. - I'm not talking to anybody.

How does this particle work when it isn't used like this?

Your examples show only one function of ни as a particle. It is intensifying function.

Another function, for example, appears in consessive clauses: Куда ни посмотришь, везде поднимаются новые здания.

It can be uses In set expressions, which I think familar to you, as in: ни свет ни заря, ни дать ни взять, ни за что.

"На химфаке куда ни плюнь - девочка
На физфаке, что ни девочка, то плюнь".
