Cut the story short, my long-term girlfriend lives in Russia, whole reason I'm learning this language, and I'm trying to get her friend (who only speaks Russian) to understand that I want to come over to surprise her on her birthday.
I got as far as; "Я хочу поехать в Россию на день рождения Марины" and already started to think it could be wrong. I know most Russians would understand the jist if I just google translated but I want to make sure it's very clear that it should not be told to the lady in question.
If anyone could find it in their hearts to translate the following I'd be extremely grateful;
Hi, small talk, small talk... I need your help. I want to come to Russia for Marina's birthday but it should be kept a secret/should be a surprise. Don't let her know any plans are going on. I think I can just about manage to get to Cheboksary by myself but if you could keep me informed (as she thinks I'm coming later in the summer) if she's either their (chebok) or at her parents so I end up having somewhere to stay. You think this is possible? Give me a message back.
Cheers.
