Some nouns are always singular.
Right, but possible to add "And some nouns are always in plural, like деньги".
To be continued...

The Declension of Singular Nouns
Quote:
Second declension nouns are masculine nouns with a zero ending in the initial form (стол, олень, гербарий)
Гербарий has zero ending? It seems to me, that its ending -ий, shouldn't one? In a table below at least has written "Nominative case - гербарий" with marked -ий.

Re: Lessons step by step (step 1)

Re: Lessons step by step (step 1)
гербарий is 2nd declension because it ends in -ий, not because it has zero ending.
It was shown in the lesson table with examples, but it wasn't explained in the text. I have updated the text to make it more clear.
2nd declension includes
- masculine nouns with zero ending
- neuter nouns ending in -o, -e in the singular nominative
- words ending in -ий, -ие -- that's where our гербарий comes into play :)

The Cases of Russian Nouns
Quote:
2. The genitive is used to show that something (somebody) belongs or refers to something (somebody). It can be translated by "of" in English.
берег реки - the bank of the river
Can it be translated by "from"? For example, я выхожу из реки - I go out from the river.
