    Idiom, or...

    Hello,

Sometimes, while learning russian language i'm listening to Russian music, and i'm trying to translate their lyrics.
I just found a sentence that i don't understand, or at least can't 'translate it'. I'm not sure, but it seems to be some kind of idiom.
    So here it's:
в бумажной тоске ты тихо сидела,

I could translate: бумажной тоске = " paper melancholy", but i still have no idea what it means or what kind of mood is that.

And sorry for my language skills, english isn't my mother tongue.

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Idiom, or...

It's definitely not an idiom. It's just bad poetry. I am a Russian native speaker and I also have no idea what it means. My only guess is that it means a rhyme for the previous line: "На белом песке, в бумажной тоске". Rhyme, that's all.

P.S. Actually, yes, the "бумажная" doesn't participate in the rhyme here. But it seems like the author had the word "тоска" and took the first adjective ("бумажная") which came into his mind.
In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.

I've never come across it. It's definitely not a set expression.

I think the translation is ok and Russian and English phrases are equally meaningful/meaningless (it depends on your point of view). ))

    +1
Paper melancholy seems nice enough translation.
    Some poor metaphor maybe.
Send me a PM if you need me.
