Seems like there is a few ways to use "near" in Russian. How would you use вблизи compared to the other ways? Thanks.

Рядом = very close \ close Рядом с домом, у самой стены, был припаркован автомобиль.
Вблизи = close \ not far away Мы припарковали автомобиль вблизи, за один квартал от дома.
Около - both sences. Автомобиль остался около дома, перед входом.
Поблизости - not too far away - автомобиль остался поблизости, через дорогу.
P.S. Those are not strict rules and may vary...
А ещё 'неподалёку', 'недалеко', 'возле', 'подле',...
danimal, please pay attention that 'около' (and also 'возле', 'подле') is a pure preposition, whereas others can be used both as adverbs and as prepositions. In the latter case they are combined with a specific extra preposition, forming such composites:
- рядом с
- поблизости от
- неподалёку от
- недалеко от
Also, I would use 'вблизи' only as adverb, as the Serge's example demonstrates.
"Невозможно передать смысл иностранной фразы, не разрушив при этом её первоначальную структуру."
Just like it seems to be in EnglishSeems like there is a few ways to use "near" in Russian.
-- nearby, in the vincity, just to name but a few
Another month ends. All targets met. All systems working. All customers satisfied. All staff eagerly enthusiastic. All pigs fed and ready to fly.
вблизи suggests somewhat longer distance than рядом or около.
