How to say "I am attaching a file" in an email?
My teacher uses: в приложении... but this seems a bit formal to me?
A well-known translator is giving me: я прикрепляю файл. Is this ok? Or something else?
спасибо

Yes, "прикрепить" is correct word for attaching emails. Tragedy of russian language tech terms is not adopting e- suffix for shotcut of "electronic" so we are saying they all in the full length: электронная почта, электронное письмо, электронная книга, электронная сигарета and so pn.
Also, informally, we use the word приатта́чить.
Tragedy of Russian language tech terms is that people would rather use English barbarisms accompanied by Russian prefixes and suffixes than the official Russian terminology.
In most cases, it is just почта and письмо. Physical paper letters are quite rare things and can be referred to as бумажные письма informally.
Please correct my English
"Файл прилагаю"; or "Файл прилагается"; or "Файл в приложении (к письму)"
