How I translate the word guilt ?

I have guilt(-s) for not helping him.
or
I feel guilt(-s) for not helping him.

In Greek we have also the expression: "The Erinyes are chasing/hunting/haunting me for not helping him"

Also the word deter how is translated?
E.g. The enormous size of the chocolate monopoly and its massive sunk costs in Moldavia deters the creation of any competing factory.

there are many ways to translate 'for', and also we can use noun or verb phrase to convey the same idea...

Я виноват в том, что не помог ему.
Я виноват в том, что не помогаю ему.
Я чувствую свою вину в том, что не помог ему. (i feel)
Я чувствую, что виноват, потому что не могу помочь ему.
(you see I use both past and present here, because in English it is not clear without the exact context)

(just to name a few variants)

as for the Erinyes, I am afraid there is no similar way of saying this in Russian,
something similar to the idea might be used, such as Я мучительно переживаю свою невозможность помочь ему (I have a helpless and acute feeling that I can't help him), but I can't think of any mythological parallels here.


deter - препятствовать
deters the creation of any competing factory - препятствует созданию конкурирующего предприятия.

Not exactly the same, I guess, but can't think of better translation.
