Is the expression: in effect, correct? Is there a less formal expression in English. Perhaps: Is this discount still going?

Also how is translated in russian.
I know that we say: the law is still in effect = закон в действии

I think "in effect" sounds good here, and is not "too" formal. I'd change the previous sentence though:
Dear, Peter, In your previous email, you mentioned that you would offer me a discount of 20%.
