"Does the trick" - делает трюк.

According to my googling, it's possible to use "Does the trick" in Russian the same way.

I.e.

Finally you shut the leak! That valve really does the trick.

В конце концов ты остановишь утечку. Этот клапан разве делает трюк.

really -> в самом деле

We do not say 'делать трюк', sorry.

If you insist on something idiomatic: "Этот клапан - то, что доктор прописал."
It's not like this expression is an exact equivalent of "do the trick" but it does the trick in this case.
