    Best online rus-eng-rus dictionary?

I'm going to experiment with some software called 'learning with texts', which highlights words in imported texts in Russian, etc, and can link to 2 online dictionaries easily to give ideas for a translation of an unfamiliar word.

In the past, I've tended to use google translate as my first option, backed up with a visit to Russian 'wiktionary'. I also check with my paper dictionary, a 1996 copy of the penguin dictionary, it's amazing! I wish that was digitised...

I have read through a lot of the sticky on online dictionaries; most seem to be monolingual, which I'm not ready for yet.

Can anyone recommend a really good online dictionary for me to link 'learning with texts' software too? Bearing in mind that I have a well thumbed paper dictionary as backup for when I'm not convinced by a translation I find online. Which is most of the time...

I always use multitran It has lots of variants for each word and a lot of phrases. Sometimes you should double-check it, because it's like wikipedia - not everything is 100% correct.

So, same strategy as with wikipedia: you go there when you run into some new fact. After reading you'll most of the time say "well, that sounds reasonable", but sometimes you say to yourself "wow... Wait a minute - that doesn't sound right". And go look for confirmation.
I know it's "MR" not "ME", but still: fix my english mistakes, please!

Thanks, i'll try that and see how I get on. Do you use any that aren't user editted? I used to use slovoed, but it seems to be charging a lot of money now. Seelrc was good too, but I don't know if I can get 'LWT' software to work with it, as I'd have to log in to use it.

wiktionary is good, true, but doesn't always include all forms of a word. The abbyy one is better than expected, I'll use it as 1 of my 2 linked online dictionaries. Thanks!

ABBYY Lingvo is the best out there. I don't know about the online version, but the computer software is hands down THE BEST. First off, it's the most comprehensive one. Way better than google translate or Babylon. It finds the definition to the weirdest slang words, poetic words, and hardly used words. Secondly, It has inflections for every word (the cases for nouns, conjugations for verbs), always shows you perfective and imperfective versions of verbs, so it's a huge help if you're writing in Russian. It also has the ability to click on a word so you won't have to write it down in the dictionary. The way it's built and designed is very smart, effecient and handy. So forget the online tool, go with ABBYY Lingvo.

looks like a very comprehensive piece of software; might be worth paying the fairly steep price for.
