2 lines I don't understand in a song (песня про солдата)

This is from "песня про солдата" by машина времени. I marked in red the lines I don't understand. Can anyone explain me what they mean exactly?

Умрут от зависти ребята? Reads out to me like "Die out of my relations to my pals." Which doesn't make much sense!

И пусть меняет моду мода? Reads out to me like "May the fashion be changed by a fashion"...which also doesn't make much sense!

Умрут от зависти ребята -- Guys (probably my friends) will die of envyy.
About the second. You know, when time passes, people dress, think, eat different things, some by will, some because they're in this year. So no matter what fashion is today, to be a soldier or not to be a soldier, for him that's decided.

Literally "My pals will die because of their envy at me" = My pals will eat their hearts out.

И пусть меняет моду мода.

It is a kind of wordplay. "May the habits of people be changed by trends of time (- I'll be persistent no matter of that)"

Or something like that. :D
