ползать по-пластунски = to leopard crawl

"Жизнь по-пластунски" - I think it's a figurative sentence, maybe "meek and mild, meek as a lamb" (тише воды, ниже травы).
In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.

    just crawl will do.

Ползать по-пластунски is literally: to crawl as if you were flat (or something like that)

Жизнь по-пластунски is a metaphor that describes a man who crawls and growels at somebody's feet for whole his life.

So little a context may also mean that he has to be very cautious and he has a very dangerous life.

I never say 'жизнь по-пластунски'. I've just asked my Mom if she knows this epxressions - she said no. If my mother doesn't know, who knows it? The question actually is who uses it? Classical writers, maybe?

Я думаю, это просто авторское. Такого выражения нет.

Very likely to be true, I suppose.

Так я и говорю - дайте контекст, чтобы было понятней. У меня складывается такое впечатление, что это вообще часть прямой речи.

Listen, sperk, you should deside - either you want to learn Russian "classic" language and culture or some "unerground" things. In the second case I think you should look for some specific internet sites. Some ordinary russian people, like me, just didn't even ever hear about such things.
Please, correct my mistakes, except for the cases I misspell something on purpose!
