    Ну как

Hi, what is the meaning of the phrase ну как given the following context:

-- Это Вадим. Познакомьтесь. Он приехал в Ленинград из Киева. Будет учиться здесь, в университете. Вадим и Виктор -- товарищи по комнате. Ну как? Привыкаете? Вы ведь здесь совсем недавно? Правда?

    Thanks

It's a colloquial way of saying: "How are you?", or "How are things?". The phrase is impersonal, literally 'So how?', which makes it rather colloquial. We tend to use it very, very often in Russian among friends and in informal conversations.

I think it's close to "So how's it going?"
Correct my English, please! <-This is not just a signature I really need it!
I'll be so grateful for your help.
