Мы ездили на балет на поезде.
или
Мы ходили на балет на поезде.
I think the correct answer should be ходили as it is на балет. And that на поезде is locative - мы на поезде.
Please correct me.

Мы ездили на балет на поезде. I understand the part where for мы ездили на поезде, but with for на балет, I was thinking it would be мы ходили на балет. Please help to clarify my confusion.

You mean you went to the ballet by train (like to another city)? Then yeah, вы ездили because it was by train. It doesn't matter that it was the balley.
