Thread: где моя собака?

I am trying to figure out how to say "where is my dog?" Would it be где моя собака? Also there is that ending that people add to a person's name when they are close. Could this be applied to pets as well? And what are these endings? I can never remember except that it has a ш or щ in it. Nor can I figure out how you know how to add the ending. Do you take anything off or is it just slapped onto the end?

Yes its right. And that ending is diffrent for every word, but for dog its Собачка. Usuallay you can add чка, or ка... But u could add чик or sometimes очка, енка... just depends.

You can say Гейбочка, but it sounds horrible. You better don't.

For собака-

Где моя собачка
где моя собачонка (иронично)
где моя собаченция (очень иронично)
где мой пёсик (male dog)
где моя псина (саркастически).

The last 2 are not for ending.

lol, Gabe is too american for a russian name. Better just call him gabe.

I still don't know Russian very well. Bablefish says муж and жен mean's husbands and wives. Are you saying those are only if you are married?

ой, извиняюсь. Нет, в данном случае, это словарное употребление, сокращение от (муж)ской и (жен)ский.

Кстати, "жен" - нет такого слова, есть "жена", но множественное от "жена" может быть "жены" (произностися как жоны), либо "жен", например "у меня было много жен" (произносится как жон тоже).

кстати, на Габриэл можно образовать большое количество уменьшительно ласкательных, большинство применимо для обоих полов:

Габриэлка
Габрилюшка
Габрилюнок (муж)
Габрилюнушка
Габрилёнка
Габриленчик

в общем, еще, наверное, можно придумать.

Just a guess, but it might be short for мужчина(man) and женщина(woman)
