She is crying heavily - она сильно плакала
I want to be on TV - я хочу чтобы меня показывали по телевизору (or more informal: я хочу на телевидение)
Today there is no school - сегодня нет занятий
I didn't receive a news paper - я не получил газету
She is not here - её здесь нет
I just wanted to make sure - я просто хотел удостовериться (or убедиться)
Where would I know?- откуда я мог знать? (if its meaning is similar to "how would I know")
Fetch the basket - сходи за корзиной (or принеси корзину)
Life is good there - там хорошая жизнь (or там хорошо жить)
We went to an island - мы ездили на остров
I wanted to see you - я хотел с тобой увидеться (or тебя увидеть)
What school do you go to? - В какую школу ты ходишь?

Она сильно плачет if it's in the present tense.

But that is actually an old proverb, not just a quote.

Heh, that's OK, there are no rules for what goes into my Russian tidbits bag. It's a little bit like a clipboard. You save interesting things you like onto there and when you see an opportunity to use them, you whip it out. Is "dlja tex, kto v tanke" a quote?

Usually the saying "more haste less seed" is considered to be it's English equivalent, but of course some meaning is lost.

For me the word itself mostly associates with the meaning "tight", other meanings I percept as idiomatic. One can have "крепкое здоровье", it could be "крепкий мороз" in winter, one can "крепко спать", "крепко любить", "крепко целовать" (there's a joking letter ending: целую крепко, твоя репка).
