    Я не понимаю это предложение.
    "Я знаю, ходят разговоры, что вы хотели бы остаться на этом посту и дальше."
    Как по-английски?

    How does "ходят разговоры" translate into "There are rumors"?

    Literally, it means "Rumors are going" . In english it can be translated as "Rumors are circulating", or "There are rumors"...something to that effect. Translations are not meant to be 100% literal.

    Однако некоторые агентства умудрились раздуть сенсацию из, казалось бы, простой и однозначной фразы.

    I'm having trouble getting any meaning out of that too.
    "However, some agencies ....." It gets hard for me to translate after that.

    However, a few angencies managed to cause a stir (stir up a a sensation, ruckus) from, it would seem, a simple and single-meaning phrase.
