    2 expressions

what is the best english translation of "свой в доску " и "отбалдеть".

My dictionary says the first means "one of the gang" but that doesn't always seem to fit in the contexts I see it.

The second means "go crazy", "go nuts"??

«Свой в доску» means a person who is very friendly, whom we can trust.

«Обалдеть» means «to be astonished» (like when somebody presented you a million dollars)

It is. It means almost any board (in the meaning a flat piece of some material).
