    worse than that

    Hy everybody
I am trying to traslate a text from English to Russian. My question is;....
    how I have to say....

WORSE THAN THAT HE WAS TERRIFIED.
ХУЖЕ ЧЕМ ЭТО, ОН БИЛЬ В УЖАСЕ

    Thanks in advance

I'm thinking "Более того, он ужасался." Maybe you can say "Хуже того", but that doesn't sound right to me. Disclaimer applies.

Depending on the context, the following translations are possible:

Более того, он был в ужасе
    or
И что ещё хуже, он был в ужасе.

When can you use the verb ужасаться/ужаснуться?

Ужаснуться means get/become terrified, and ужасаться means that it happens repitatively. But if being terrified is a constant or continuous state, you say "находиться/пребывать в ужасе" или "испытывать ужас".

    E.g.:

Когда я увидел это, я ужаснулся (got terrified right at that moment).
Хотя я видел это много раз, всякий раз я ужасался. (Meaning that he felt terrfied each time he saw it, but not in between).

На протяжении двух лет я постоянно испытывал ужас/пребывал в ужасе. (Continuous state).

    the paragraph begins

    he woke up scared.
worse than that he was terrified.

    Он встал испуганный

I have also problem because of I must use a bad dictionary.

Then I'd translated it as the following:
Он проснулся испуганный. Более того, он был в ужасе.
"Happy new year, happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend"

I use the dictionary "Oxford Russian Dictionary" but it's not one of the best. From what I've heard, the dictionaries by Katzner are really great.

By the way, how would I say that first part in Spanish? You uso el diccionario "Oxford Russian Dictionary"...
